All about scoring

Touchdown
Touchdown! Indicated by two arms straight up in the air. You've seen it before on commercials or even from your friends. A touchdown is the highest amount of points a team can score at one time. A touchdown is worth 6 points. A team scores a touchdown by getting the ball into the other team's end zone. This can be done by the offense running or passing the ball. The ball can also be taken into the other team's end zone by the defense from a fumble or interception.

Extra point and Two–point conversion
After the touchdown, the team can try for an extra point or two-point conversion. The extra point is worth 1 point and is kicked through the uprights. A two–point conversation is worth 2 points and is scored by running or passing the ball from the other team's 2nd yard line. If the team is successful, they get two points in addition to their touchdown of 6 points.
Field goal
A field goal is worth 3 points and is kicked from anywhere on the field but no farther away than 45 yards from the other team's end zone. A field goal is only kicked as a last resort when the offensive team is running out of time with possession of the ball.
